Hi, my name is Nell. I live in quaint New England suburb and go to high school in a nearby town.
I have loved fashion, beauty and style for as long as I can remember.
I always knew that I wanted fashion to be part of my life, but I wasn’t sure how I could incorporate it into my day-to-day routine, aside from dressing to slay.
My freshman year of high school I started writing for my school’s newspaper. At first I mainly wrote articles about art and music on campus. Two years later I became the Managing Editor for all features, arts and opinions. Then, during junior year, my Associate Opinions and Reviews Editor invited me to write a piece about anything that interested me. I thought about some of my passions and decided to write about makeup; something I love to experiment with because I think it is beautiful. Having that opportunity to be creative as a writer, opened up my mind to the possibility of becoming a professional fashion journalist someday. However, I didn’t want to wait until “someday” to start writing. And, because my friends continued to ask me for makeup and style tips, starting a fashion blog seemed like a logical and exciting project to kick off my journalistic efforts.
“Simplynell” became my creative baby. My vision – connect with the modern adolescent woman through fashion, beauty and lifestyle posts that will entertain, educate and inspire. Simplynell blog posts will include information about where I shop, how I create outfits, and what inspires me in the world of fashion. In addition, I’ll include updates about my favorite “do’s and don’ts” as well as my thoughts about empowering women through fashion and feminism.
Being young women in today’s society can be overwhelming when it comes to managing our school work, our social lives and our personal and parental expectations for the future. I hope Simplynell will serve as a space for everyone who loves fashion to find inspiration to be bold, take risks and be their best self.
It has been an amazing experience transforming Simplynell from an idea into a reality and I can’t wait to see how it will continue to grow and bloom in the future.
Thanks for reading.
